Bonnie Lou Underwood, 96

Bonnie Lou Underwood, age 96, of Middlesboro, KY, gained her Heavenly Wings on Monday, July 1, 2024, after a brief residence at the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Middlesboro, KY. She was born in Middlesboro, KY, on June 1, 1928, to the late Preston and Lucy Ann Reynolds Rains. She was a member of Binghamtown Baptist Church, Middlesboro, KY.

Bonnie is remembered as being stubborn, headstrong, and tough-spirited; traits that no doubt contributed to her long years. Despite her strong exterior, she had a heart of gold that touched all those privileged enough to know her. In her leisure time, Bonnie found joy in simple pleasures such as reading romance novels, particularly by Danielle Steele, and creating works of art through quilting.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah Rains Treadway, Cora Duncan, Hazel Maxwell, Mary Minor, Virginia Rains, Martha Minor and Millie Duncan, and one son, Richard Underwood.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Allen Keith Underwood, Damon (Barbie) Underwood, Judy Hymer, Robert (Alice) Underwood, and Crystal (James) Cornette; grandchildren, Allen Keith Underwood, Jr., Tosha Underwood, Tonya Wagner, and Alice Wagner; great-grandchildren, Britt Evans, Chancelor Mullins, Tayshon, Jaudia, Josten, Jaylauna, and Jayden as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

As per the family’s request, all services for Bonnie Lou Underwood will remain private.
