Verlin Paul Ward, age 76, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on October 24, 1947, to the late Virgil and Linda Ward.
Paul was a kind-hearted man who dedicated his life to helping those around him. Unfortunately, his health got so bad, he was not able to do that anymore. His generous and compassionate nature touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his daughter, Lola Ward; and siblings, Betty Vanover, Johnny Ward, and Cynthia Ward; grandparents, Alfred and Peggy Ward and Dewey and Mary Powell.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Patricia Flinders and Vincent Ward of Norton, VA, Linda Faye Stapleton of Ewing, VA, and Jennie Johnson of Bowling Green, KY; siblings, Wanda Sue Prater, Mary Cupp, James Ward, Judy Brock, Sandra Moore, Tami Brock, and Donna Southerland; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; Aunt, Faye Tichenor; Uncle, Herman Powell; long-time companion, Sharon Wright; special friend, Joey Beason; special cousin and friend, Nancy Mason Vanderhoof; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family of Verlin Paul Ward would like to thank the staff of Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital in Middlesboro, KY, St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, KY, and especially St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, KY, for taking the best care of him while he was there. Special thanks to Suzi Prater for everything you have done to help us.
