Carl “Matt” Matthew Devalcourt, III, age 48, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. He was born December 30, 1975, the son of Carl Matthew Devalcourt, II and Jacqueline Knotts Norris. Matt owned and operated Iron Core Construction in Middlesboro, Kentucky for seven years. His passion for the construction industry was evident, and he was deeply fond of his employees and crew members. Matt’s commitment to excellence and his unwavering support for his team fostered an environment of camaraderie and respect, where hard work was celebrated and appreciated. Matt was a spirited individual who embraced the joys of life with passion and enthusiasm. He had a profound love for fishing and enjoying the tranquility that came with it. His connection to the outdoors was complemented by his affection for his pets, who brought him immeasurable joy and companionship. His adventurous spirit also drew him to racing, as he dedicated much of his leisure time to his beloved hobbies of racing remote-controlled cars and flying model planes. Additionally, he had a passion for racing go-karts, where he could unleash his competitive edge and also enjoy the fun. Matt was preceded in death by his father, Carl Matthew Devalcourt, II; mother, Jacqueline Norris; and stepfather, Norman Norris. Matt is survived by his wife, Teresa Powers; stepchildren, Brenton Powers and Amber (Micah) Wade; granddaughter, Aspen Wade; sisters, Jacinda Norris, Deborah (David) Olson and Amanda (Brent) High; nieces, Hannah, Ashley, Nora Kate, Harper and Devon; nephews, Christian and Ethan; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends. Matt’s passing is a tremendous loss to his family, friends, and the community at large. His legacy of kindness, integrity, and hard work will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know him. He will be deeply missed, but his love for his family will forever remain in the memories he has left behind. A memorial service for Carl “Matt” Matthew Devalcourt, III, will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Claiborne County Animal Shelter.
