James “Jim” Lynch, age 83, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. He was born on August 18, 1941, in Middlesboro, KY to the late Norman Lynch and Ada Lynch Keck. Jim was a life-long mechanic in Middlesboro, until an injury forced him to retire. He was a lover of nature and wildlife. He took every chance he had to go fishing. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of more than forty years, Judy Ann Sutton; brothers, Daniel “Noble” Lynch and Dennis Lynch; sisters, Francis “Tootsie” Johnson and Mable Presnell; and grandson, Gabriel Waugh. He is survived by his brother, Gregory (Juyane) Lynch and sisters, Inez (Andrew) McCoy and Mary Burr. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Randy Lynch, Steve (Shelia Buttery) Lynch and Sonya Harrell, all of Middlesboro, KY, Salena (Mike) Waugh of Richmond, KY, and Javonna Hollins and her five children. Jim was a proud “Poppy” to all his grandchildren, Vanessa Lynch, Travis Lynch, Olivia (Curtis) Miracle, all of Middlesboro, KY, Evan Harrell and Rebekah Harrell of Lexington, KY, Hannah (John) Leabo of Lexington, KY, Justin Waugh and Grace Waugh of Richmond, KY, Madison Eldridge and Savannah Eldridge of Tazewell, TN; two great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. Jim’s family would like to extend a special thanks to all the caregivers and staff who have provided care to him through the many years at multiple facilities as well as his special friend, Tiffany Smith. The family of Jim Lynch will receive friends on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. To honor Jim’s request, he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, contributions toward funeral expenses are appreciated by the family.
