Frey speaks out about Pineville Community Health Center
December 18, 2024
A bombshell lawsuit has been filed against two of the board members of the Pineville Community Health Center (PCHC) in Kentucky, alleging the misappropriation of millions of dollars and withholding of crucial information for Medicare cost reporting. The complaint, filed by PCHC President and CEO Michael Frey, accuses the former board members of being responsible for the hospital's financial struggles.
According to Frey, a staggering almost $7 million in unaccounted funds was uncovered in the Medicare cost report, prompting him to refuse signing off on the document. This led to the filing of the complaint, which has now been escalated to federal court. A hearing date has yet to be set.
The allegations have sent shockwaves through the Pineville community, which has been severely impacted by the hospital's financial struggles. Several experienced employees, some with as many as 35 years of service, have been wrongfully terminated. These dedicated employees have seen the hospital through its ups and downs, often working without the guarantee of getting paid. Despite this, they remained committed to the hospital and its mission.
It is alleged that the head of ARH security has been holding termination meetings with these staff members, who were allegedly let go for uncovering the truth and refusing to sign fraudulent documents.
Michael Frey has expressed his commitment to fighting for the staff and the community, emphasizing the importance of restoring the hospital's family atmosphere. "My number one goal is to have the family atmosphere back at the hospital that was once there, and I am just ready to get back to working for the community," Frey said.
Frey's dedication to the community has been evident through various initiatives, including a full remodel of the hospital, a 5-year commitment to the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival, the establishment of a 28-day treatment program, the reopening of the nursing home, a new diabetic infusion center, and a recent lease signing for a youth program at the Wallsend church. Unfortunately, the opening of both the youth program and the diabetic infusion center have been placed on hold due to the devastating situation.
As the situation continues to unfold, the Pineville community remains hopeful that the truth will be revealed, and justice will be served. Despite the ongoing lawsuit, Michael Frey encourages the community to continue supporting the hospital, which remains a vital institution in the area. “Please, hold on to your faith and know that I am fighting to be back at the hospital.” Frey expressed for the community.
A healthy Bell County requires great community news.
