PINEVILLE, KY — The Pineville Mountain Lions clinched the 13th Region Class A Tournament by defeating the Barbourville Tigers 66-57.
Senior guard Ashton Moser led the charge for the Mountain Lions, with a game-high 23 points. Moser showcased his scoring versatility, sinking 7 of 14 two-point field goals, 2 of 3 shots from beyond the arc, and 3 of 4 free throws.
Fellow senior Cameron Puckett provided a boost from long range, connecting on 4 of 7 three-point attempts as part of his 18-point contribution. Sawyer Thompson, another senior, chipped in 11 points with a balanced effort, making 3 of 7 two-point shots, hitting a three-pointer, and converting both of his free throw attempts. Kaiden Robbins added 8 points on the night.
Pineville’s defense played a critical role in the victory, anchored by senior Zander Garrison, who contributed four points and provided key stops in the second half.
Barbourville kept the game competitive with a strong offensive effort, but Pineville’s consistent shooting and veteran leadership ultimately proved too much to overcome.
With the win, Pineville not only takes home the 13th Region Class A Title, but also builds momentum heading into the remainder of their season. The Mountain Lions’ balanced scoring attack and experienced roster will make them a formidable opponent in upcoming matchups.
Pineville will now shift its focus to regular-season play, with hopes of carrying their winning ways into the postseason.
