Data Center Forum Scheduled For The Citizens of Bell County

Posted

We are still holding this forum on Tuesday, June 30th 7pm at the Bell Theater. Although there has been some pushback from a select few individuals, we believe this forum is necessary, whether it be us hosting or someone else.

We have contacted and heard back from one of the developers of the land off Bell-Jellico Road, Ben Devary. We asked Mr. Devary if he would be interested in either talking with us or being a part of the forum to keep folks updated.

Mr. DeVary stated he appreciated “your interest in our property”. He did say he would be unable to attend due to prior commitments and added: “If and when we make an announcment about the future of our property, we will be sure to make the community aware, and look forward to the community’s as well as your input.”

We have attempted to contact others within Murray Industries, the company on file for owning the land in question. Other than Mr. DeVary, contact has gone unanswered.

We have been made aware of three elected officials who are willing to talk at our forum as well as an individual who works regularly with data center infrastructure. We will also present our (and others) findings that started the ball rolling on the community being alerted to this proposed project and what has currently taken place.

We hope to have respectful civil discourse about this project and what local government can do to take steps to protect the county OR provide information on how this project could benefit our area. Additionally, what have those in county government done to keep the citizenry informed if indeed they were obligated to do so.

There are several other questions that we expect to be asked and would like to see those who attend can come away with at least a better idea “of what many people are talking about.”

For those who can’t join us in person, remember, we will be streaming this live. The event is open to the public.
