Sun Announces Familiar Face as New Editor

Hello there!  Some of you may already know me, but for those who don’t, I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Lisa Peters, and I am the new editor here at the Pineville Sun newspaper.

I am a Bell County native, and graduated from Bell County High School before attending Berea College.  A fun fact about me:  my very first “adult” job, after college, was here at the Sun! I started in November 1996 and left in January 2001. Being back in this office is very much a full-circle, back-to-home moment for me.

Many of you know me from my family, school or from working either at the Middlesboro Police Department, Bell County Clerk’s Office or Pine Mountain State Resort Park.  My goal for the newspaper is simply community involvement, positive stories and a media outlet that you can trust.  If you have an article, story or column idea, feel free to contact me or come by!  We will be adding new content, in the upcoming months. No idea or question is crazy, I want to hear what the community has to say.

My office door is always open! Feel free to stop by and introduce yourself. I am always open to suggestions. I  want to have open communication, as a community.  The Pineville Sun has been your newspaper for over 100 years, and it is STILL your newspaper, going forward in 2026.

If you see me out and about, be sure to introduce yourself!
