James Edward “Ed” Allen, age 89, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 28, 2024. He was born on March 11, 1935, in Middlesboro, KY, to the late Walter and Cora Lake Allen. He spent many years as a coal miner in Bell County, KY.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Levada Allen; son, Jay Edward Allen; daughter, Rhonda Kaye Skaggs; grandson, Michael Carter; and siblings, Matt Allen and Pauline Spade.
Left to cherish his memory are son, Gary Allen (Ginger Lindsey) of Middlesboro, KY; daughters, Debbie (Jerry) Evans of Middlesboro, KY, and Jessica Lynn and Melissa Allen, of Middlesboro, KY; grandchildren, Brandon Evans and Jaynia Allen; great-grandchildren, Christian Carter and Lily Allen; siblings, Chester Allen, Leon Allen, Raydean Huddleston, and Marilyn Mace as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The family of Ed Allen will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m.
At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will travel in procession to Sharp’s Cemetery, Middlesboro, KY, where graveside services will be held.
